WORK EXPERIENCE
PODCAST PRODUCER (2017- Present)
I’ve produced award-winning podcast series for CBC, both at a local and national level. I have made radio documentaries with Canada’s National Observer, Cited and the award-winning podcast Crackdown. I have also produced and acted as project leads on two sponsored podcasts with UBC and The B.C. Centre for Substance Use. I can work with you on your project as well; my skills include crafting narrative, project planning and logistics, writing, field and studio recording, editing and audio production.
RESEARCHER (2018- Present)
I’m a freelance researcher for documentary makers, and can help you with research summaries, investigative digging and finding the guest to go on camera. I was the researcher on the up-coming Dimestore Productions feature Dead Man’s Switch, the story of Quadriga CX, a crypto-currency exchange that went up in smoke, along with $280 million of crypto and cash, after the CEO died mysteriously while on his honeymoon. The feature is set to premier at Hot Docs in 2021.
ASSOCIATE PRODUCER: CBC RADIO (2011-2019)
From 2011 to 2019 I worked as an associate producer for number one morning and afternoon shows across the country, including in Ottawa, Halifax and Vancouver. Associate Producers pitch stories, find the perfect guests for on-air interviews, write scripts and compile research to prepare on-air hosts, as well as gather and edit tape. My on-air work included tape-talks, a column on climate change, special series and personal essays. Radio pieces I created played across Canada through national syndication, on such programs as The Story From Here.
PRODUCER: CBC NOVA SCOTIA (2014-2016)
Producer of the daily regional call-in show, Maritime Noon. Our two-person team regularly had breaking news interviews that would go on to lead regional and national newscasts, including several interviews that were rebroadcast on As It Happens. In addition to producing the show’s content, the role also included directing the live show and screening calls while on-the-air. During my time with the show, Maritime Noon won an Atlantic Journalism Award for its coverage of the Moncton Mountie shooting in 2015.
SPECIAL PROGRAMMING: CBC RADIO (2011-2019)
During my eight years at CBC, I produced special programming on a range of subjects, including remote broadcasts, holiday fundraising specials, week-long series and convening editorial boards. Examples include On the Coast's live Juno Special (2017); BC Almanac remotes (2018); CBC Vancouver’s Open House and Food Bank Day (2016, 2017); TD Kids Book Club special programming for Mainstreet (2014); multiple editorial boards with various communities for CBC Vancouver and The Current.
STUDIO DIRECTOR: CBC RADIO (2013-2019)
I worked as the morning show director for both Information Morning in Halifax, and The Early Edition in Vancouver. In addition to keeping the shows running smoothly and on time, directors make sure the show is up-to-date on the latest breaking news of the morning.
PRINT and TELEVISION
I worked as a television associate producer with CBC Ottawa, as well as with CBC’s team in London, U.K., where we covered Pussy Riot, the 2012 Paralympic Games, and Julian Assange’s stay at the Equidorian Embassy for The National. In 2011, I worked with New Brunswick’s provincial newspaper, The Telegraph-Journal, where my stories appeared on the front page, as well as regularly in the Arts and Business sections. I’ve worked with the Science Media Centre of Canada to help parliamentarians better understand the mechanics of genomics, as well as with the Canadian Improv Games for live coverage of their national tournaments.
